An approximately 11-foot-deep hole on the Sorhakhutte-Balaju section

July 3, Kathmandu. A hole approximately 11 feet deep has appeared on the Sorhakhutte-Balaju road section in Kathmandu. The damage in the middle of the road has also affected vehicle movement.

The Valley Traffic Police Office in Ramshahpath has reported that vehicles are being operated in only one lane on either side. Early this morning, around 6 AM, a motorcycle with the registration number Ba 50 Pa 382, driven by Bikash Shakya, fell into the hole in front of the gate of Kumari Tole in Nayabazar, Ward 16 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Although the motorcycle submerged into the hole, Shakya, originally from Morang and currently residing in Chabahil, Kathmandu, is safe. The motorcycle was retrieved from the hole using a crane by a team including municipal police and firefighters from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s New Road branch, led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Dipesh Adhikari.
