Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal will attend Narendra Modi’s swearing-in as India’s prime minister on Saturday.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha confirmed to the Post that Prime Minister Dahal will travel to New Delhi for the ceremony.

The foreign ministry is finalizing the delegation accompanying the prime minister to the Indian capital.

Modi will begin his historic third consecutive term as prime minister after the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 293 seats in the recent elections. Modi is only the second leader to achieve a third term, following founding Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

In 2014, then Prime Minister Sushila Koirala attended Modi’s first swearing-in ceremony.

The Indian government has invited heads of government from other SAARC countries to the event.

Prime Minister Dahal congratulated Modi on his election victory on Tuesday.
